24th Oct - Charlie Heffernan wins Silver Medal at the National Youth Track
Madison Championships in Manchester, along with his team mate Stephen
Bradbury from PPVCC. This event was on at the same time as the senior track
nationals, so big names such as Chris Hoy were there, as well as Peter
Mitchell who came 5th in the sprints. Well done to all riders.
17th Oct - VC Jubilee members haul in the prizes at the Sussex Cycle Racing
League track AGM and presentation evening. See the results on the

- Nick Smith goes well under the hour in a 25m Time Trial in Fontwell, in
58.49s! A week or so before this he also won the Brighton Excelsior Club
Champion event 25m TT with a 1.00.08, so knew he was close. Nick qualified
the fastest in the GHS regional TT champs held in Lewes in the summer.
21st Aug - Amy Jacobs wins Silver Medal at National Youth Track
Championships.
Others in the VC Jubilee team were Charlie Heffernan, Nick
Smith, Ashley Dennis, Imogen Farlie and Amy Barnes. Everyone did really
well, at this massive high intensity event, but Amy really put the pedal
down and stepped up to Silver medal position only after the last event.
Update 15th Aug - What a turn out we've had this year at the track league - and so many good results for everyone taking part. Especially those who were in their first year, hope you had a good time, and to those that are now experienced track riders, well done. I really hope you all went up and said "thanks" to the organisers of the regular events, it takes something special to do this for so many weeks, and you couldn't do it without them. My thanks especially goes to Dave who has taken on a lot more responsibilities than just the treasurer!! and to Dan and BenG and BenM who commit to supporting the events. I hope some of you will consider at the AGM supporting the event in a more active way and get yourself on the committee to help steer the direction and development of the league. This week was the final week of track racing on Wednesdays and training on Fridays. Watch out for some continued MTB rides on Wednesdays and then we'll be into our cyclocross/mtb training on Tuesdays at the end of September.
Because VCJ are so active, not just with some riders performances but supporting cycle sport. I'd like to draw your attention to this years Sussex Sports Awards which have just opened. You'll recall we were very lucky to have received Sussex Club of the Year last year, a great achievement. This year I would again like to ask you consider completing nominations for the various categories to recognise some of the clubs volunteers and riders. Hopefully if we collectively do enough we should ensure some recognition which will only help develop the club further by attracting more funding to be able to provide more opportunities for more people.

Wed 26th - Adur Urban Day - Southwick Rec, £2 lots of activities/dance/art workshops, I'll be there with the iMagic

16th July 2009 - Pete Mitchell wins Silver Medal after being selected for GB Euro Team Sprint Champs team after fantastic PBs for selection, with Jason Kenny and
David Daniell.
At the Euro track champs in Belarus, Minsk this is Pete's first year as U23 Olympic Academy so a great
achievement.

Selection was based on their final positions in the South East Regional Youth Track
Omnium.
